I'll Take My Sunday with an Extra Helping of Hope, Please

Sunday, October 26, 2008
A Lakewood woman burned her pet Yorkshire Terrier on her stove, and Bobo the Dog subsequently died of organ failure.

A Colorado Springs woman is on trial for burning her house down for the insurance money. Her three children were inside at the time, and died in the flames.

A 52 year old Pastor in Colorado Springs has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 15 year old parishioner. He will serve no more than 60 days in prison.

The worldwide financial implosion will worsen the food crisis. The rate of malnutrition, and presumably death from starvation, will continue to rise in 2008.

I'm writing a paper this weekend on a comparison of the cultural, national and religious differences between life as a woman in the United States and life as a woman in Saudi Arabia for my "Nations, Cultures and Peoples" DU class. Being a Saudi woman sucks. I mean it really, really sucks.

Bleh.

When my wife asked why I'm such a major supporter of Israel despite some of its deficiencies, I told her I'm a civilizational patriot. Israel represents civilization in a region largely lacking it.

One culture promotes its women to positions of power, the other wraps its women in bedsheets. No contest.

Thanks, Pollyanna. I'm not even going to look at that first link, about the dog. I hate animals in trouble. Today I accidentally saw some of the news (didn't mean to!) and saw a brief bit about a dog in Australia rescuing kittens and I started tearing up.

Anne, my Hot Mom told me about BoBo.

Because, really, that's what I want to think about. Some nutbar who sets her dog on fire.

Her family reported that she had a history of mental illness.

Really? You think?
