Cranberry Walnut Jam

Sunday, February 15, 2009
I'll be making cranberry walnut jam this afternoon. I have several friends and family members who really enjoy this flavor, since it's not too sweet, and also makes a good choice for jam-related cookies.

I bought the cranberries during the holidays, because finding whole, fresh cranberries at any time of year except Thanksgiving and Christmas is problematic.

Plus it makes the house smell really good. What are you doing today?

I've already done grocery shopping (scorded 1/2 off Valentive chocolate in the process), put away most of the groceries, and read what little now passes for the Atlanta Sunday paper. Am about to start laundry whilest watching the Daytona 500 and finishing the last 100 pages a book I'm reading.

I'm also listening for a large aircraft overhead as there is a WWII B-17 Bomber visiting the airport a couple miles from the house, they're giving rides to raise money for Angel Flight and I'm hoping to catcth them when they fly over at some point.

Plus, as I've been craving brownies all week, will probably make a batch later and take it into work with me in the morning... spread the calories around a little bit.

Your jam sounds wonderful, it seems like it would go well with Michelle's cinnamon bread! You'll have to post (or source) the recipe for us at some point.

Now if you can just get that pesky transporter to work properly, we could share all our kitchen goodies! ;D

Also? Walnut anything is automatically yummy, right?

Buffalo burger. My KitchenAid has been pressed into service, as have I, into making burger. I also have a giant buffalo tongue in the CrockPot braising away so I can feed John tongue tacos.

God. Tongue tacos. That sounds like a euphemism, doesn't it?

BTW, I'll be eating something else, I don't care for tongue. The texture is offputting.

And, I'm working on Buffalo Pate.

Tania,

When my grandmother was a girl she loved tongue. She said, however, any time she's had it in recent years she didn't like it at all.

I'm not into eating something someone else was tasting with. Or thinking with. Or procreating with.

We used to have tongue sandwiches (the tongue was cooked, then chilled, then sliced). I don't recall having a strong reaction, either positive or negative, to it. Guess it must have been OK.
