Patience is a Virtue

Wednesday, February 4, 2009
When I was going to library yesterday, I saw the following bumper sticker on a truck in front of me:
Don't Blame Me - I Voted For McCain!
Yeah! Why the hell hasn't that socialist Obama fixed the economy already? A McCain/Palin administration would have gotten things squared away by now!

Ahem.

Rome wasn't built in a day, people. The economy is not going to be fixed in three months. It may not be fixed in three years. He's going to make mistakes. He might even admit that he made them, and apologize for doing so.

It's a shocking turn of events, I know, but I don't think it constitutes a Constitutional crisis.

Patience is a virtue. Give the guy a chance to execute some plans before you bitch about what a crappy job he's doing, will you?

I've always thought of political bumper stickers as short-sighted. I mean, here you are placing something on the car that can't possibly be removed without a lot of effort, for an election that's going to be over in a few months, and then it'll be outdated and everyone else will point and laugh at you for being sooo yesterday ...

That bumper sticker was probably put on car before election day...

I felt like chasing him down and saying, "I don't blame you for our current troubles, but I do blame you for voting for an unqualified git."

Obama actually said "I screwed up." That's something the other guy never did in eight years.

While I have some problems with the stimulus package in it's current version, Obama is trying, and also trying to work with the Republicans. Which is getting him criticized by the left that he's bending over backwards too far and the right that he's not bending far enough.

Sheesh.

On a similar note, I've been thinking the people with "Palin 2012" stickers may be feeling a tad stupid if they actually start liking Obama in the next three years. Except, of course, that assumes some kind of open-mindedness you just won't be seeing. America could enter a new age of pony-rides and rainbow-farting-unicorns and these people would find something to take issue with.

Vince: yeah. I'm not happy with the fact he promised a new era of ethics and then has appointed a series of people with tax troubles and carved out a couple of ex-lobbying exceptions for, what is it, two other cabinet appointments? But then he admitted to screwing up, which we haven't heard from a President in decades even when it was true and one needed to say it. So I'm clinging to hope, still. It takes a real man to admit he was wrong.

No no no. We have to declare it's a failure before any reality and facts can interfere. Something about lies getting halfway around the world before truth gets it's pants on.

And let me also chime in that I love that Obama took responsibility for the decisions. Man that's refreshing.

Eric, I want to print up and hand out Palin 2010 stickers just to see if people would use them.

You should live where I live - Palin is a fucking hero, best thing evah - she's going to save us all after Obama crashes and burns. I'll bet I could sell a shitload of the those 2010 stickers.

Saw two "Impeach Obama" stickers yesterday. Saw the "Don't blame me..." one last week - I felt like saying to the guy, "Roger that, but can I blame you for being so fucking stupid that you still have a Bush/Cheney bumper sticker on your truck? Because seriously, dude, Bush/Cheney."

But then, I suppose that after Bush/Cheney Palin looks good to him.

Idiots.

"Impeach Obama"

For what? Being president while black?
