Skatĉjo and Wendy!

I selected the winners by using a random number generator after assigning a numerical value to each participant as your answers came in.

So congratulations, jam winners. Wendy, I have your snail-mail, but Skatĉjo, I don't have yours. Please send it along to hotchicksdigsmartmen at comast dot net, and I'll get you guys' samplers out in the next week or two.

Thanks to all who participated!

Err... no it's not. Your mail server rejected it (I double checked the email address - I put the "@" sign and the "." in the right place, but nooooo).

"Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.3 spamcleaner : Domain is not allowed (state 14)."

Grrr.

Yummy!! I can barely wait!!

I know you ship stuff like this all over all the time, but be sure to mark FRAGILE clearly on the box.

I'm saying this 'cause I just happened to be home Thursday when there was shouting outside and pounding, not knocking, on my door, then something hitting the door pretty hard. Living in apartments shouting and door pounding usually mean something bad.

Ah, no. Not this time. When I got to the door no one was there and the person doing the shouting was getting back in their jeep. Huh? Looked down just as a box fell over into my doorway. What? Ah, the box of books I was expecting from Michelle, slightly the worse for wear, but intact.

Apparently the idiot mail carrier was too busy yelling at someone on his cell phone to do anything but pound on the door with one hand and throw the box down. I yelled at him, he gave me the the WTF look and left.

Sigh. For this crap we pay extra.

Wendy,

Sorry about your postal people. Especially since ours are terrific.

When we went in today, while I was chatting with the woman who usually waits on us, the woman who helped us Monday with Shawn's package ask if it had arrived on time.

I love the Star City post office.

I'm just getting tired of people thinking their cell phone conversations are more important than doing their jobs efficiently.

Our public transportaion system just had to pass rules about "distracted driving" for it's bus drivers. Why? Too many complaints and near misses being caused by drivers talking on a cell phone!!

Yet at my favorite downtown post office the counter crew is wonderful. To the point that when one of us regulars come in, there's a long line and they know we just need to get a date-stamp for certified mail, they'll motion us up and hand us the stamper. We stamp, tear our receipts off and they scan the tracking numbers into the system as soon as it calms down. Why they all can't be that way is beyond me.
