Attention, Tea Bagging Dipshits

Thursday, March 25, 2010
Consider:
Really, Tea Baggers? Really, GOP? This is your rational, considered response to losing this political battle?

You know, I remember how I felt when GWB was elected to his second term. I remember how furious I was, how personally I took it, that my fellow countrymen would vote such an unthoughtful man to the highest office in the land. I couldn't understand how people of good conscience couldn't see what a horrific mistake they were making in keeping that chucklehead and his puppet master(s) with their hands on the reins. It was simply UNFATHOMABLE to me.

But you know what? In spite of my anger and confusion, in spite of how utterly betrayed I felt by our system and my fellow Americans, it never once occurred to me that the correct response would be to physically threaten those whom I thought were responsible. I never thought that physically harming my neighbors, or my representatives, or participating in vandalism against Republican offices was the fabulous plan that would make the outcome more to my liking. Instead, I gritted my teeth, and tried to make sure the next election had a result more to my liking. And you know what? It did. Because that's the way things work here in the Good Ole U.S. of A. We have a self-correcting system that allows people of differing viewpoints to compromise and find solutions to our problems that certainly may not be perfect in everyone's eyes, but they're compromises we can live with.

What the Hell are you people thinking? Do you honestly think that threatening to secede, or threatening to engage in armed revolution, or threatening the safety of those representatives who didn't vote to your liking (or their FAMILIES) is actually going to get the HCR legislation repealed? I can tell you that my own reaction to your behavior is to think even less of your objections than I did before, and a thorough disgust with your tactics. You should be thoroughly embarrassed and ashamed.

You all claim that YOU are the real Americans, that the rest of us just want to lead our great country into socialism, or communism, or Nazism, or whatever silly rhetoric your Fox News pundits are using these days. And yet, you're apparently unwilling to use the system you claim to love to effect the lasting change you claim to want, and instead engage in domestic terrorism as a way to get your way.

Who are the REAL AMERICANS in this scenario? Those who have worked within our legislative process to effect the change they believed in, or the childish, spoiled brats who lack the skills required to play with the big kids?

Go home, Tea Bagging Dipshits. Go home and cool off, then do what the big kids do. Put on your big boy underpants and do the work, within the law, to get the changes you want. It's how the system works, and you betray our country by attempting to circumvent it.

Bravo! I posted in a similar vein earlier today. I wonder what the GOP will do when their homemade monster turns it's rage on THEM?

By the way, thanks for your input on the other post. Loved it!

So true, Janiece. And the scary thing is that they seem to think their opinions are more legitimate because they are getting more ranty about it.

Look, just because we stayed within the law doesn't mean we didn't feel very deeply about it!

Grrr...

Well, after the GOP's page being devoted to getting Pelosi fired (with flaming backgrounds and online donations), I'm no longer Republican.

Not that I was ever a "registered" Republican or anything, but I officially denounce the party. I'm embarrassed, and on behalf of the non-crazy conservatives (which I'm beginning to hope I'm not the only one of...) I apologize.

Also, I voted for Stupak. ;)

What really concerns me is that someone I know that's a longtime Democrat said to me today that the tea baggers better remember that they're not the only ones with guns.

Oh, not to mention that I'm seeing a lot of the right saying it's just a political ploy:

Real problems of violence against members of Congress or self-victimization for the purpose of political argument.

my god will the whining never end! it amazes me that people as smart you are or seem to be
(unforunately I don't know you all) are so willing to immediately blame the GOP or those teabag boneheads. it seems to this conservative simpleton that you aren't mentally much different. you have higher standards and a better outlook on life, but, you're not far off their mindset. "Who did this?" is the question. all I see hear is They Them You Know The Emperor has always had enemies! (extra credit to whomever can place the last line there) Anyway, if everyone would do their thing as needed when needed this extracurricular brain eating could be left undone.

Shawn, I know there are reasonable conservatives out there. I KNOW THERE ARE, EVEN IF THEY'RE BEING SHOUTED DOWN BY TH TEA BAGGERS.

And Vince, I saw something similar on Bainbridge's blog. Not a very auspicious beginning, there.

Shawn Powers said...

Well, the reasonable conservatives are not in charge of the gop.com website. Of that I'm certain.

...and to think, I actually like tea.

Janiece said...

John, you know you're always welcome here, but I think you're getting a bit...stabby.

Whining? Really? Calling out people who intentionally break the law as a result of losing a political disagreement is whining? I suspect that if it had been your propane line that was cut as the result of your association with a Democrat you wouldn't describe your reaction as 'whining.'

And who, exactly, do you think is responsible for these acts? I don't think it's unreasonable to assume the GOP and the Tea Bagging Boneheads bear some responsibility for these events. In the case of the GOP, they pandered to the lowest common denominator, and now act outraged that those people are showing who they are. They'll call a hero of the civil rights movement a "nigger" as he makes his way to cast his vote, and these folks are cut from the same cloth.

Now I'm not saying that the left isn't just as boneheaded on occasion as the right (and even more so on some issues), but really - it seems like the right is inciting this bullshit on purpose for reasons of their own.

I'm considering starting a conservative movement called, "Loose Leafers" -- you know, more sophisticated than "Tea Baggers" :D

I fear for our immediate future. Like you, I was devastated when we invaded Iraq. I sat and cried. I felt ashamed.

Yet, It never occurred to me to resort to violence or threats. I picked myself up and wrote blogs, discussed with reason and objectivity the idea of war against a country that had not attack us.

This new wave is beyond my imagination. I look at people that I have called my friend, and wonder if I've ever known them.

The scars will remain forever for many of us. The division is real and hard.

I try to keep a cool head about it. More slashing and angry words seem to fuel their fire. I am growing weary of biting my tongue.

Thanks for the great blog. I come by way of Will, Astra. Zee Zee Writer.

Juan Federico was having some trouble reaching Blogger, so sent this response via Facebook, with a request that I post it here:

"Janiece I've known you for some years and God as my witness you are a marvel. You my friend are an extraordinary person. I've seen you do things and, say things that make me glow with pride. You are noble and brave and all kinds of shit that makes me aspire to be a better man so that you're not ashamed of having me around.

But sometimes Janiece you seem to throw caution aside and just pipe off. That's when I worry. There are times that I wonder if you can see things from as base a region as the valley from which my brain gets its input.

Understand that I fully support your position about these people and the shit they caused. But unless you or I come upon the crimes while they are being committed, hounding these oafs is beyond our purvue. You and I both hold the same office, we are Citizens of the United States of America and we are bound by law certainly, but, more importantly by a longer and very wonderful tradition that we help all those that we can help, because helping people is what we do. It's not merely an obligatory function it's part of our core being.

I am confident that justice will be had for these infractions. Investigations began the moment the crimes were discovered.

Janiece ( this is the worry part) please consider that these animals are capable of hurting you. If you needlessly make yourself a target and some jerk hurts you. I will be very sad and the world will be less glorious because something holy and beautiful has been tarnished by savagery and ignorance.

Calling out these guys is fine but if you're going to do that; if you are really intent on sticking yourself on the wall. Do it from where you can do more good. Otherwise it really is just whining, moaning and, bitching.

Do you want to make that difference? Run for office, State Representative, State Senator, Hell Janiece start small, go for an Alderman's chair in Parker. I'll back ya. Bigger'n shit, I'll be right there with you and Terry and whomever else wants in on that action. I will take vacation for a week just to come out to your campaign office to hand out flyers, get coffee for the team and all the shit work I can handle. On my nickel guaranteed. It'll be my campaign contribution.

So yes I get stabby, no apologies for it either. But believe me just as you get pissed off because some yayhoo performs within the boundaries of his cowardice. I get antsy because my friend whom I care about more than I can ever let on, sticks her neck out without thinking about it."

John, the mistake you make is in assuming that I am unaware of the fact that the chuckleheads could, in fact, find me, and perform violence on my property or my person.

I'm relatively easy to find - it wouldn't be hard for some whackadoo to make his way here.

I'm aware - and I don't give a good goddamn.

I refuse - REFUSE - to remain silent while the whackjobs take over the country I defended for so many years. I consider my duty as a citizen to be not only being an informed voter but to SPEAK OUT when I see people betraying the values I hold dear. This blog is the avenue by which I speak (or bitch, if you prefer that term). They don't like it? Oh, well. I won't abridge my 1st Amendment rights because the whackadoos are off the rails.

The point of domestic terrorism (like all terrorism) is to induce fear. If I shut the hell up because I'm afraid...well, you can figure out the rest. If I'm sticking my neck out, it's with my eyes wide open.

I catch the F train at the Kew Gardens train station. It just happens to be by Anthony Weiner's office. I was going home the day of the "Anthrax Scare" and when I saw all those cop cars, FBI and MTA agents milling around the station, my first thought was oh great I suppose I should "assume the position" but luckily I was waved through and I got home safe.

On a similar note I lose sleep anytime I read from cory doctrow's little brother!
