My Name is Janiece, and I Have a Problem

Wednesday, March 16, 2011
First, something for Shawn. Because he's SUCH A BIG BABY IF I DON'T CATER TO HIS BASER INSTINCTS. Satisfied?

Now on the subject at hand.

And that problem would be shoes. Shoes, shoes, shoes. I love shoes. But only expensive, comfortable shoes. And I have a special fondness for Danskos.

I like chunky shoes. The Mechanicky Gal thinks I'm crazy in this regard - she prefers a shoe with a smaller profile, mostly because she's very tall. I, however, am not, and my feet tend to disappear in low profile shoes. I do loves me some chunky shoes.

So the other day I was perusing the selection of Danskos over at Amazon, and as is my custom, lost my damn mind. Which beats taking my own eye out with a spork, I guess.

Um, HELLO?

You forgot something.

That is all. :)

I understand wanting comfortable shoes.

But the shoe fetish you and Jeri have - not so much.

Not that I'm being judgmental in your lifestyles choices.

I lost my mind (and an hour and $100) shopping in Michael's the other day. Yep, my impulse buys are craft materials (currently yarn, lots and lots of it). Books, DVDs, and the occasional expensive restaurant, too.

However, I recently looked at my budget and decided I should be saving more. :/

Stupid adulthood.

By the way, I forgot to mention that I absolutely love the studs on that third shoe. I <3 studs and grommets (yep, men and dogs too).

I don't get the shoe obsession either. I know you're not supposed to wear the same shoes two days in a row, and I *really* get needing to have shoes for rainy days versus shoes that can be worn when it's not raining.

But I don't get having lots and lots and lots of shoes.

On the other hand, I have to admit I have a new pair of Dr Marten's on the way. It's done nothing but rain recently and most of my shoes are NOT waterproof. BAH. But even then, I only found like three pairs of Dr Marten's I really liked and would consider wearing.

On the other hand, I DO have a serious book problem.

It's a sickness.

I too should get more than one pair of shoes. But I find a comfy pair and that's all I wear until they fall off my feet and I am forced to buy another pair.

However, if Borders doesn't quit closing stores in the Atlanta area, the books in the to be read pile on the coffee table will block the view of the tv. This could be a problem.

I have a thing for clunky books. The low profile sleek ones just don't work for me.

What?

Yep, I've got a shoe problem. I have high arches, so most shoes make my feet hurt. When I find comfy shoes, I just HAVE to buy them.

Megan, I can imagine you have trouble finding what you need. Do you end up spending a fortune when you come south?

Today's Post had an article about Anyi Lu a chemical engineer who is into ballroom dancing so hence into comfortable shoes. She designs them. Only availble at Nordstrom @ $345 - $425 a pop. They look kind of like yours but a lot more money.

And every time you blog about shoes I put another pair on MY wishlist!

Michelle, I'm with you. I need a comfortable shoe that will match 90% of my wardrobe. Black pair, Brown pair, sneakers, done.
