Free Shit Friday - The Hellfire Club

"This is the scariest, goriest, creepiest, sickest, most twisted novel I've read in over ten years. It made me afraid to go to sleep at night and I loved every word - loved it, loved it, loved it." - Carolyn See

Indeed. The Hellfire Club was one of the best reads of the 1990's, and I loved it, too. Hardbound, 1st edition.

See, here I am, being one of those people who is embarrassed by the generosity of others and tends to avoid offers like this.

But I adore Peter Straub, and I haven't read Hellfire Club, and it would have a good home next to the other Straubs on my shelf if there's nobody more deserving. And I really mean that: somebody who hasn't had the pleasure of being acquainted with Straub's work ought to have priority, random number generator or no. But if there aren't any other takers--yes, I would very much enjoy a 1st ed. Straub hardcover, would devour it at the earliest opportunity and give it a good home. Thank you for the offer.

See, Nathan, this is why you got called out.

Do you want the damn book, or not?

I like Straub, and I haven't read this one but Eric sounds like more of a fan if that's a criterion.

I'm in too!!!

Nathan, it's not. That's why I decided to use a random number generator, so I wouldn't have to make those decisions. :-)

Are you sure you don't want a clause in the rules that eliminates people for being pains in the ass?

Of course, that would eliminate all the regulars, wouldn't it?

I don't want the book. Can I give my random number to Eric?

I was at a party with Peter Straub last year, but am not cool enough to have actually gotten to speak to him, just to gaze adoringly from across a crowded room.
