I'M MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!

Today, at the inadvertent suggestion of a Facebook friend, I sent scathing letters to both my Senators and my Representative. Yes, I've crawled out of the Pit of Despair.

Scathing because there is no excuse for what is currently going on in Washington. None. The Republicans are behaving like recalcitrant children, no better than a two year old screaming "mine, mine, mine!" when faced with the revelation that no, you cannot in fact always have your way. The Democrats are behaving like spineless little douchebags who are selling out their constituents left and right. Newsflash, Dems: The Republicans will not compromise. They've sold out to the Tea Baggers and the big contributors, and continuing to give in on their completely unreasonable demands will do nothing other than allowing GE and Exxon/Mobil to laugh all the way to the bank.

So I manned my keyboard, and eviscerated everyone. While I obviously think the Republicans' behavior is far worse than the Democrats, I let them ALL have it. The Republicans are treasonous assbags, whose dedication to their corporate and teabagging masters will burn the whole world as long as they get their way. The Democrats are their own worst enemy, 97 pound weaklings with no backbone who allow the Republicans to control the message instead of calling them out publicly, and allowing the President to take the heat for what is in fact a failure of Congress.

I'M MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE.

It won't work. I wrote my fingers bloody during the health care circus and all I got were bloody fingers I had to pay some doctor above average rates to cure. Apparently having political rage is a pre-existing condition.

The reps outside of my district (those who bothered to reply) said they forwarded my concerns to my Congressman. My Congressman is a Republican, so he wrote me back saying I didn't know what the real issue was, but he was going to educate me and John Boehner (one district over) thanked me for my support. Apparently he counts EVERY letter and phone call as support.

Let me know how it goes for you. I'm sitting this one out.

You're hitting the point I was at a year or so ago. I am now blissfully going to ignore the whole goddamned bunch of them.

The Dems are, for the most part, spineless, gutless and might as well be Reupublican. No, I take that back. If they were Republican they'd at least fight for their ideals and their party's platform.

I just purely hate Republicans. Seriously, I know that sounds childish but they've made it abundantly clear that they hate everyone but themselves and the very richest people and corporations in the country, so right back at 'em. And I assume that the idiots who keep electing them feel the same way so fuck them, too. (Yes, this is why I haven't made many political posts lately)

The 2012 campaigns and election should be loads of fun.

I'm going to my happy place, now. Because it beats the headline, "Engineer kills Congressional Representative, Then Self."

Note to Homeland Security/Secret Service: I'm kidding. KIDDING. I have not now, nor have I ever actually performed violence against someone except in self-defense.

KIDDING.

This garbage is why I'm registered as an independent. It was the only way I could tell the parties I think they're a bunch of self-serving jackasses.

I just heard today about the "contact your congressperson" movement, so I'll see what I can do about it this evening. I'm inclined to do it, if only to possibly give both sides an excuse to act like sane people again. More likely, they'll escalate, but it's worth a try (for reasons enumerated in your Pit of Despair comments).

I've sent e-mail after e-mail to my senators and representative, and called them multiple times. Considering that every public opinion poll is showing that congress is generally to the right of public opinion on this one... I really just wish they'd stop pretending they give a shit about the opinions of our constituents. SO FILLED WITH HATE.

Thanks for the post. It speaks for me, too. I may switch my alignment to Independent, too, although I do like to vote in the primaries.
This is going to go down to the bloody end just because the Teabaggers want it that way.
A Bunch of toddlers have more sense.
