When I see older adults struggling with illness and injury, and I know they've not done the work necessary to ensure they entered their senior years as strong and flexible as possible, I feel sorry for them, because I know it didn't have to be that way. And then I go back to the gym.

Yes, this keeps me very motivated as well. If I had broken these bones and not had good upper body and core strength from boxing this would be much more difficult and likely have a negative impact on my recovery. Got to keep moving even when it hurts!

Yes, but somtimes illness and injury come from simple bad luck. I was in terrific shape before I got sick.

Beatrice, we can't control everything, to my regret. But we can give ourselves the best chance we can to live the lives we want.
