Good Bye, and Thanks for All the Laughs

George Carlin, Dead at 71.

Personally, my favorite role was Cardinel Glick.

Thanks, George. You made me laugh.

  1. Oh, how I love that movie, and Carlin's role in it.

RIP, George. While critical thinking was always cool, you made it even moreso. For that, I am grateful.

  2. Carol Elaine, me too.

In his last HBO special, I laughed out loud when he said he discarded religion when he reached the age of reason as a toddler.

    Hehe.

He was so offensive. And I loved that about him.

  3. I loved this guy.

What was so great about him, was the way he remained relevent. I mean, a sixty something old guy cracking the "millenials" up? Bob Hope was a great comedian and a wonderful man, but I never found his routines to be all that funny, a result of my generation, I think. Nobody ever had that problem with George.

    Rock on, man. ;)

  4. "Cardinal Glick: Fill them pews, people, that's the key. Grab the little ones as well. Hook 'em while they're young.

Rufus: Kind of like the tobacco industry?

Cardinal Glick: Christ, if only we had their numbers."

  5. Janiece, what I loved about him wasn't just that he was offensive, but that he wasn't offensive just for the sake of being offensive. He had a valid point to make, he made it well and that's what offended people.

    More Dogma quotes:
Cardinal Glick: Christ didn't come to Earth to give us the willies... He came to help us out. He was a booster.

Rufus: I'm telling you, man, this ceremony is a big mistake.
Cardinal Glick: The Catholic Church does not make mistakes.
Rufus: Please. What about the Church's silent consent to the slave trade?
Bethany: And its platform of noninvolvement during the Holocaust?
Cardinal Glick: All right, mistakes were made.
