"Taxes are what we pay for a civilized society." Trying to take advantage of the civilization part without forking over an equitable share of the payment part - which is what the Wall Street bigwigs do - is inherently unfair. More and more people are realizing that, which is why the Plutocrats are panicking.
I find their fear quite satisfying - it tastes like cake.

Chocolate?
Hey Janiece, can I add your photo to my post on the diversity of people becoming involved in the OWS protest? Please? Pretty please? I'll link the pic to your blog post.
Jeri, of course.
Dang, woman. Now THAT'S a stand!
Thanks! Done. And yes, what filelalaine said.
And we ALL pay equally.
Mechanicky Gal, that is exactly correct. It makes me APOPLECTIC WITH RAGE that a multimillionaire pays less, on a percentage basis, than some poor schmuck who makes $30K a year and is trying to support a family.
" . . . it tastes like cake."
Janiece, you just made me shoot nose stuff all over the library with that line. That'll teach me to read HCDSM on a public 'puter!
Matt, that's why you're my favorite. I was afraid no one would think my obscure historical reference was funny.
When I posted on Facebook about Buffet saying essentially the same thing, I received an email from someone who basically said "if that's what Buffet feels, let him voluntarily pay more and leave those who don't think taxing the rich more does anything but hurt America."
I'm surprised someone has popped up with a similar comment here.
Ooh, Vince, you've got a little Galtian fanboy/girl! Aren't they precious?
Vince, I have a comeback prepared for such an eventuality. Because I don't want a Galtian fanboy/girl.
Jeri, they're so very precious.
Janiece, I knew you would. Which may be why no one's done so.
I admire Buffet.
I thought the Bush tax cuts in 2001/03 were wrong and the 'it's your money, we are giving back' with the country at the level of debt then was wrong.
And my wife and I were paying a lot in taxes.
