I Likes Me Some Jazz

But Jazz Harp? Yes indeedy. Here's Edmar Castaneda, a native of Columbia, who takes the harp to a whole new level. I saw him on an NPR Vodcast of All Songs Considered, and it's worth a click-through and a listen if you have 15 minutes to spare.

Why not?

The organist at Trinity church in Manhattan has been known to improvise on Michael Jackson themes.

Heh, you can tell I'm a former harpist because my first thought was "that looks like he was trained with the Salzedo method. I hated the Salzedo method." >.>

But yeah, jazz harp has been around for decades. I might've gone in to it to escape classical music, but jazz does even less for me than classical does. If they ever figure out how to get heavy metal out of a harp though, I might take it up again. ;)

MWT, the VodCast made me think of you, actually.

I have never met a jazz piece that I don't like....and this is no exception.
Thanks Janiece, I LOVED this!
{the fact that I have always wanted to learn to play the harp doesn't hurt either...MWT I did not know that you played the harp :) }

Yep. From age 12 to 17ish or so. I was supposed to become a world-famous world class musician, sort of like a Joshua Bell (violin) for harp. Could've done it quite easily, if I had been a completely different person.
