What the Fuck is Wrong With These People? - Dogfighting Edition

Editorial Note: I have modified this post to reflect a new title. Instead of this feature being titled the Hot Chick Walk of Shame, it will now be called What the Fuck is Wrong With These People? Thanks to Jim Wright for the inadvertant suggestion.

**************************

Today I'm introducing a new feature on my blog, called the What the Fuck is Wrong With These People? I will use the forum to bring up activities or people I think deserve my highest level of contempt.

Today's winner is the so-called "sport" of dog-fighting. The Humane Society has additional information on this activity here.

I just can't say enough rotten things about these people. I mean, seriously, how can someone take pleasure in abusing a dog to the point where they become viscous? For the most part, dogs are loyal and critically dependant on their owners' approval and attention. What kind of sadistic bastard thinks it's fun to beat that out of them and then watch them try to kill each other?

Learning about this literally makes me sick to my stomach. All I can think about is some psychopath beating my poor Boogie-Dog until he's so viscous he has to be put to sleep.

I think an appropriate punishment for such miscreants is a stint as the "bad guy" in a guard dog/canine unit training school. You know what I'm talking about - the guy who gets attacked by the dogs as they commit some unlawful act.

Oh, and that protective gear normal, contributing members of society get to wear while the dogs try to take their arms off? They won't have access to that. They get to do this job naked. And they don't get the option to quit. Because my friend Karma demands it, and I don't see why they should get more consideration than the dogs they've abused. Bastards.

Ha!

When I was stationed in Rota, Spain, many years ago I knew a linguist who requested to work out of rate for while as an MP. He got assigned to the canine unit and he came in to the division to tell us all about it. He was very excited to be working with the Military Working Dogs, and he told us how he'd be riding around base in a cruiser with his large dog, busting bad guys. Did quite work out that way. For six months he was the canine unit training dummy. They'd dress him up in a red-man suit and the dogs would take turns at him.

We used to go down and stand by the fence, drink beer, and watch. They'd give him a head start, and he'd go lumbering out across the yard in than giant suit. They'd turn the dogs loose, he'd squeal like a little girl and try to run faster. Those huge dogs would knock him down and start biting at him, and all the time you could hear his terrified screaming. Hysterical, utterly hysterical. Every day for six months.

He never requested to work out of rate again. Neither did anybody else.

But Yeah, pit fighting. What the fuck is wrong with these people?

ignore the syntax errors in the previous post. That's what I get for not taking a leak first. Coffee, too much coffee. Couldn't concentrate.

Jim, the mental picture of these bastards in the place of your linguist (but without the suit, or any clothing at all), running across the training ground being chased by the huge dogs has brought a smile to my face and a song in my heart.

Ah, poetic justice.

Yep. Dog and Cock fighting, just never understood the attraction.

I'm with ya. Put Vick in a pit with his own dogs. Hungry dogs. Let him see how much fun it is.

The world has enough violence and insanity in it without deliberately creating more. Personally I think that if Vick and his cronies are so damned fascinated with violence - put them in blackwater uniforms and drop them into the Sunni Triangle for a month, let them have a taste of real death and violence. Having been there, I guarantee you they'd get a lifetime's supply of 'thrills.'

Again, what the fuck is wrong with these people? No, really?

Jim, I wish I knew. I really do.

It would be my supreme pleasure to retire the "What the Fuck is Wrong With These People?" forever. Sadly, I think I'll continue to find plenty of fodder.
