Walter L. Wagner PWND By The Daily Show

Friday, May 1, 2009
I've been getting an unusual number of hits to my previous "'Tard of the Week - Walter Wagner, Alarmist" post, and I couldn't figure out why. It had been a long time since he was featured in Cracked for suing the Scientific Method, so I was wondering what kind of shenanigans led to the interest.

Turns out the interest is being generated by a segment on the The Daily Show about the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Our good buddy "Dr." Wagner was interviewed by John Oliver about his contention that the LHC will generate black holes that will destroy the world, oh noes.

Obviously, John and Jon pretty much PWND "Dr." Wagner, but here's the thing - Walter had to know he was going to be the butt of their jokes...so why did he agree to appear? My impression of the man was that he took himself far too seriously to participate in such a segment. I've been wrong before, though, so there you go.

In any event, John Oliver is fast turning into my new celebrity boyfriend:

How long you figure before Cankersley and the Mensa goofs show up to tell you why you're wrong?

Wagner really missed his calling - he should do straightman for conspiracy science jokes more often, then he'd at least be amusing and useful instead of the carbuncle on the ass of humanity that he is.

Jesus, I can't stop watching this, this is friggin' funniest damned thing I've seen in a long time. Wagner, what a fucking retard.

They are comedy geniuses down there at the Daily Show. The last line? Coincidentally (Not!) "Oh, shut up, Walter."

I love those guys. :)
