Today Judge John Rodenburg of Minnesota ordered that a 13 year old boy named Daniel Hauser who has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma doesn't necessarily have to die.
The boy's parents, Colleen and Anthony Hauser, are convinced that the cancer can be cured by nutritional supplements as advocated by the Nemenhah Band, a "religious" group that advocates "natural" medicine. Evidently young Daniel is a "medicine man" in the group, so can presumably cure himself of the cancerous tumors.
Judge Rodenburg disagrees, and has determined that the boy has been "medically neglected" by his parents, and so young Daniel will be required to undergo the standard treatment recommended by oncologists for his condition.
This ruling makes me happy, happy, happy. We sure don't need another Gloria Sam, and I'm tired of children suffering for their parents' wacky beliefs.

Well personally I think the Judge should give the parents a chance to prove their position.
Here's how it should have gone. Take the tumor cells from the kid and implant them in the parents, i.e. give them terminal cancer. If a sawgrass smoothie and some herbal tea cures them, we'll let them have a crack at the kid. Chanting optional.
Jim, I find I can live with that, even if Mr. and Mrs. Dipshit don't.
Yay! Another blow against child abuse!
