December 'Tard of the Month

Monday, January 4, 2010
Boy, did I slack off in December. There are only two candidates for the December 'Tard of the Month this time. The first is the so-called "Family Research Council," who thinks obfuscating in the name of terrifying their base is the way to keep TEH GAYZ, OH NOES! from having equal rights in this country; and us, the American Public, for having the naivete to believe that "health care reform" might actually result in something other than K Street Lobbyists and their clients lining their pockets.

What say you, Hot Chicks and Smart Men?

I just came back to Canada. The American Public wins. Sorry.

What's the matter, Megan? You found our public behavior to be less than stellar?

I feel a rant coming on.

You wanna know what pisses me off the most? Oh good, because I was going to tell you anyway. It's the fact that we know what we want re healthcare, increased troops in every stinking corner of the planet, etc.; we've made those wishes clear to our duly elected morons who are supposed to represent us; they've thumbed their noses at us and proceeded to do whatever the hell they want, which is usually in opposition to what we told them we want; and yet, we sit here like a buncha retarded cows and just chew our collective cuds.

It's like we've all been hypnotized by the razzle dazzle of bullshit coming at us from every angle.

And you know what pisses me off even more than all of that? I don't have a clue what any of us can do about it. Aaaaaarrrrrghhhh!

Um...die of high blood pressure?

Sorry, I know that's not helpful. But I share your frustration and powerlessness.

As a member of the American Public, I object! The layout of the ballot is confusing! Also, I heard there are hanging pixels on some people's computer screens! And I want to see everybody's birth certificate RIGHT NOW because I'm not even convinced the American Public is eligible; I heard the American Public is really from KENYA!

And it might be fitting, the Onion on "Nation Ready to Be Lied to About Economy Again. Sometimes humor can hit pretty close to the bone.

Gotta go with the American Public. Without them, who'd have to worry about what the other tards are spewing.

(Note: You'll notice I referred to the American Public as "them". I reserve the right to suspend membership -- however briefly -- whenever it suits my purposes.)

NATHAN IS A COMMUNIST CANADIAN!

Michelle, that's redundant.

I'm going with the American public too, but mainly because i think you are making the rare mistake of misapplying Hanlon's law to the Family Research Council. Those fuckers really are that malicious rather than purely stupid.

Having given up for the moment on the hellth care until the two sides merge their bills, I went with the Family Research Council.

Janiece said...

Don't be silly. MEGAN's the communist Canadian.

mfheadcase, I try not to assign malice when stupidity will do, but you may be correct in this case.

American Public because TANSTAAFL.

Megan said...

Ha! You may recall that I am so liberal, I make ALL liberals look bad.

Janiece said...

Megan, liberal is as liberal does.

Spoken like a true INCREDIBLE LEFT-WING CONNECTION.

Janiece, I generally agree that it is a bad idea the attribute to malice what can be sufficiently explained by incompetence or stupidity.

I just don't think that incompetence and stupidity are sufficient to explain the Family Research Council, or several similar organizations. Man of the rank and file members of such organizations perhaps, but not the leadership.

I believe the same about a certain church in Topeka, Kansas.

Megan, quit blabbing my secret. I'll only continue to be your connect if you don't brag about it.

mfheadcase, you do have a point. It's hard to believe such hatefulness is anything but intentional.
