Good Food, Good Friends

Sunday, March 1, 2009
Each month, we try to go to dinner with a group of friends we've known for about 100 years, and last night was dinner at Hickory House Ribs. I don't care for ribs, so I had chicken fingers, but the rest of the group had ribs, Colorado sausage, brisket, and other fat-filled and delicious entrees.

Hmm...fat.

After, we came back here to the yellow house to visit.

SmartFriend brought Demento Dog with him and spent the night, since it's a long drive back to his neck of the woods, and I made biscuits and my World's Best Gravy for breakfast. Hot Chick Anne was around, too, and now all four of us will be needing Lipitor prescriptions.

The rest of the day will be taken with putzing around, and I'm due for a new phone, so we'll probably visit the Verizon store.

Enjoy your Sunday, Hot Chicks and Smart Men.

Today I am enjoying the rare snow, or should I say thunder snow we're having here in Atlanta.

Which was just punctuated with a HUGE lightening flash and thunderclap that made me jump.

Unfortunately, the ground is too warm for it to stick around for long (it was about 70F here yesterday).

Yikes, that one was even closer! I do believe I'll be shutting down the computer for a while now.

Wendy,

Your storm is supposed to arrive here in NY tonight and dump about 1/2 a foot here. They keep hedging the prediction, though and saying if it follows a different track, all bets are off and we could really get a storm.

I love thunder snow! Hope that part shows up here.

And Janiece, I'm not big on the ribs either. I'll help you with the reconstituted chicken parts when opportunity arises.

Up in Charlotte, we're now enjoying Wendy's snow. And it seems to be sticking.

Hooooraaaaay, snoooooooo!

(Yes, I know you people in the mountains and in Arctic latitudes and Minnesota, etc. all see plenty of the stuff. We don't. Let us have our moment.)

Snoo! Snoo! Snoo! I haz snoooooo! (Not snu-snu, snoooo!)

Meanwhile, over here in Savannah, we had some really cold rain. T.T

One time (when I was there a decade ago) there was lots of snow on the ground in Wilmington NC. A friend had an outdoor hot tub. So, obviously ... hot tub in the snow. :D

Jim, you have no idea.

My gravy is a religious experience (provided you like pepper).

I hereby witness that Janiece's biscuits and gravy are, indeed, awesome (lots of time taken to get them just right) and will ruin you for any other biscuits and gravy.

Thank you so much, Janiece!
