I was walking the Boogie-Dog this morning, and he scared the snot out of me.
I let him off his leash, as I often do when there's no one else on the path. Well, he decided he needed to run for a bit, and took off at full-on Boogie speed, ears back, mouth open, tongue lolling.
Until he tripped over a cable of some kind and went ass-end over teakettle, hard.
He scrambled to his feet pretty quickly, and appears to be unhurt, but his heart was pounding, and he went back on his leash for the remainder of his walk. Now he's fine, and indulging in his new favorite pastime - begging for more Milk Bone Combo Snacks, his new favorite.
Of course, I'm still a bit wiggy, but I guess that's the danger of having an intellect that remembers more than 15 seconds into the past.
Poor Boogie. Poor doggie-Mom.

I hope he's ok and that your nerves settle. It's never fun if a dog gets injured, especially when they're just trying to have a little fun.
Thanks, Matt.
Boogie's not exactly the most graceful dog on the planet. In fact, he falls up the stairs on a pretty regular basis.
You'd think I'd be used to his little mishaps, but I'm not.
I would consider leaving an ever so polite note for the property owners regarding the exposed cable that people and critters can trip over.
Even if it's city or other public property, the owner is liable for the cable exposure, and they should be grateful you're not sueing the pants off them. And next time it coulb be a someone that ends up with serious injuries.
Can ya tell I've been working for personal injury attorneys way too long?? Glad everyone is all right!

Wendy, the open space where we walk the dog isn't on an easement, or anything, although it does parallel houses in our development. People are constantly leaving their crap back there, whether it's a tree they chopped down or whatever.
Since I'm not supposed to let Boogie off his leash back there, I'm not sure if complaining will do any good...
Glad Boogie's OK! Gave me a fright, just reading about it! o.O
Ah, dis-legal local dumping ground. Every neighborhood has at least one.
Is there a neighborhood HOA that could maybe schedule a "clean-up" day along the common path this spring? Nothing keeps people from dumping stuff where it shouldn't be like having to clean up their own trash without revealing they were the ones that left it there.

Great FSM, that would scare me too. I'm so glad he's ok and ready to eat his cookies.
Orange Cat lightly sprained something in his right rear leg over a year ago, and lightly limped for about 10 days. I was a wreck. He's going to be 15 in about 2 weeks, and that's not young for a cat.
Wendy, I don't Deal with our HOA.
They give me high blood pressure.
Tania, I hear you. Boogie will be 8 this year, which makes him a senior dog because of his size (95 lbs).
Hope Boogie is ok. One afternoon my little Yorkie ran off After searching the neighborhood for hours and going to check the shelter, a lady two blocks away delivered her to my door. She said she and her two dogs had really enjoyed her all afternoon!
As for Abby, she was like do de do, and I was sick with worrying and crying! They can sure do a number on ya, can't they?
Take care.
Welcome, Char.
Boogie's just fine, thanks for your concern. He's been lounging in the sun all afternoon, looking at me like I'm crazy because I keep checking for sore spots.
Silly pooch.
