Boogie Blogging Friday

I'm having a craptacularly bad day today from a professional perspective.

I hate it when I make mistakes on designs. I hate it worse when the mistake is in the six figure range. The only bright spot is that I caught the mistake before we delivered our "best and final" deliverable. That doesn't mean the conversation with the customer is going to be any easier, though.

So today I feel like a complete and utter incompetent who would be doing the telephony world a favor if she just stuck her head in an oven. I keep telling myself that a dose of humility occasionally is a good thing, but I'm not really believing it at this point.

It's good I have the Incomparable Boogie™ to keep me company and make me happy. He loves me whether I'm a dumbass or not.

Awwww... Sorry to hear you're having a tough day. Boogie perfect to have around in that situation. He thinks you're awesome (and so do I, for that matter).

Making mistakes is not only a dose of humility, it is what humanizes you. My most horrible work experience - the one with the performance review a week into the job - got a tiny bit better when I saw a coworker make a mistake. Suddenly, the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders and I was free to be as good as I could be and not perfect.

No lives were lost right?

So I figure that makes it a good day, even if it's not a great one.

No go take Boogie for a walk, and treat yourself to some chocolate. You deserve it.

That sucks. I hope your weekend is better than your day was.

Thanks, guys.

No lives were lost - just a bruised ego.

It really is a good thing to be reminded occasionally that I'm not as smart as I think I am.

The weekend should be better - 40th birthday party for one of our pals, cooking for my Aunt and her family, goofing off on Sunday. That sounds like a good weekend to me...

Must run in the family
I can't count...

At least the mistake was caught BEFORE any serious trouble.

Your mistake, as well as my goofous...

Going to treat myself to an early flix on Sunday.

Oh I feel your pain.

Spent a brief time working in real estate. Made an typo error in a listing one time that showed the agent commission as 3%, should have been 2%. No one, including the agent, caught it until they were at closing...it cost the agent I worked for 1% of his commission, which was nearly $10,000. Ouch.

We've all been there. Keeps us both grounded and on our toes at the same time.

Have some chocolate. Pet the Boogie. Take a deep, cleansing breath and start fixing. At least you have the opportunity to fix your mistake.

Have a great weekend!
