Boredom is Underrated

Boredom is underrated.

I've come to this conclusion after experiencing the drama of multiple divorces, the drama of family arguments, the drama of layoffs, the drama of raising teenagers, the drama of political uncertainty.

I like being bored. I like being in a relationship where I don't have the constant drama. I like having a predictable life.

And in a complete non sequitur, The Smart Man and I are thinking it's time to do some more redecorating here at Casa HCDSM. I've never lived in one place long enough to redecorate, so this is a completely new experience for me. Fun, but not dramatic.

You do realize those two things are mutually exclusive, don't you?

No, no. Remember, fun, but not dramatic.

I just hope you're not bored the same way Vampire Willow was on Buffy The Vampire Slayer whenever she would say "Bored, now" in that adorable sighy whine Alyson Hannigan was so perfect at. Whenever she was bored... screaming, hurting, blood... the horror, the horror.

If you are, please stop being bored. But not in a way that involves evisceration.

The last time that my own Smart Man and I were bored, we decided to "shake it up a bit". So...We bought a house, moved his Dad in with us, then Smart man quit his job, followed by me quitting mine a few months later.

No More shaking it up for us...it is too costly.

(in his defense, Keith had another job offer, which is what made him quit his job. I was just tired of mine. And it was killing me slowly)

Home improvements on the other hand, never stop here in Wilsonworld. When you live in a century old home...the "fixing-up" NEVER stops.

When I get bored I end up building things. It gets expensive. And then Janiece comes to visit and things get fixed! (The lounge is OK again...)
I am contemplating a pergola to cover the entire graveled area.....
