Ask Janiece a Question - Answers

Hmmm... if I remember right you separated from the Navy at 17 years. If you don't mind my asking, why didn't you go for 20?

The answer to that question is actually pretty complex, and includes some information I don’t really want to discuss here, so I’ll give you the synopsis.

I left active duty after 11 years for a variety of reasons, one of which was a desire not to be away from my kids anymore. They were living with their father at that point. I then enlisted in the Naval Reserves (a six year hitch).

After some personal upheaval, I ended up here in Denver, where I grew up, and was serving with a local USNR detachment. After some time there, I lost my passion for the service, mostly due to a lack of faith in the government to use the armed forces in a wise manner. My own moral code would not allow me to “ride it out,” as there’s nothing worse than a Senior NCO with an attitude. If I couldn’t serve with the same passion and dedication that I had for the first 15 years, then I needed to hang up my hat. So I did.

Why giant schnauzer?

The Smart Boy had a slight allergy to dogs when we wanted to get a dog, and we wanted a large dog. That means either a giant schnauzer or a poodle, since neither sheds and have a lower amount of dander than other dogs. And seriously, I am not owning a poodle.

Boxers, Briefs, Commando?

Briefs, I think. Boy shorts have too much fabric and Commando is just yucky.

"I am not owning a poodle."

Yeah, I figured you for a pomeranian gal.

I don't see what fuzzy pomegranates have to do with it, John?

Steve, I was going to comment on that too. Does Colorado have a big enough body of water to float a Naval vessel of some sort? ;)

Janiece, good taste. Poodles are mostly vermin. I am forced to acknowledge my MIL's poodle, who is sweet but completely ill-mannered and yappy. That's not a breed trait though - but an environmental thing.
